Van Alstyne News—Police Blotter

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is on January 9. It is a day to thank the police officers that you know for all the work they do to protect the community. Those who join the police force put their lives on the line every day and their profession is very often underappreciated.

Arrests

December 28 – At nearly 3 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Miller Lane, in reference to a possible intoxicated person. They located and identified the person, a Van Alstyne resident. They also determined he was intoxicated in a public place and was a danger to himself and/or others. They placed him under arrest at Grayson County Jail on a charge of Public Intoxication.

A jail magistrate set bail on the suspect at $292 Personal Recognizance. He paid that and was released later the same day, according to GCSO Capt. Mark Kosemund.

December 29 – It was about 2:30 p.m. when police were sent to the location of a suspicious circumstance. They located the suspect and during their conversation the officers determined the suspect, an Anna man, had offered to compensate the reporting party in exchange for sexual conduct. They played him under arrest on a charge of Soliciting Prostitution.

His bail was set at $10,000, which he paid with a surety bond and was released later that day, Kosemund reported.

December 29 – Less than an hour after the previous arrest, police were sent to a follow-up call regarding an unspecified incident. The suspect in this case was also a Van Alstyne resident. Police discovered an active warrant, issued by Dallas County, charging her with theft with previous incidents. They placed her under arrest on the warrant.

December 30 ‑About 10:20 p.m., Officers were sent to the 600 block of Blassingame regarding a suspicious circumstance. They made contact with a Van Alstyne resident and began their investigation. That returned information that the suspect was engaged in stalking, as defined in the Texas Penal Code. They jailed him on a charge of Stalking.

He paid bail of $20,000 and was released the next day.

January 1 – About 3:20 a.m., officers were sent to the 300 block of Normandy, regarding a assaulted two family members. They jailed the Van Alstyne suspect on two counts of Assault Causing Bodily Injury-Family Violence.

The suspect had not yet paid her set bail of $5,000 as of Jan. 6 and remained incarcerated.

Wreck –  A vehicle going north on U.S. Highway 75 crashed in its 500 block. Hayslip said that it was about 11:30 a.m. when the vehicle’s right rear tired came off, causing its driver to lose control and strike the left concrete barrier. There were no injuries reported, he said.
