Suspect in Triple Fatality Indicted

An indictment is a formal, written accusation by a grand jury or prosecutor that there’s enough evidence (probable cause) to charge a person with a serious crime. It is not determination of guilt, but a finding that a trial is warranted.  

The Grayson County Grand Jury, in its most recent session, indicted Rocky Clay Patterson, age 64 and from Rowlett, the driver of a vehicle that crashed into two others in 2025, killing the driver of one, Tommy Moorehead III and his two young occupants, ages 6 and 4.

The crash happened on FM-3133, just west of Jim Cannon Road.

Patterson’s bail on the three counts of manslaughter was originally set at $1 million on each count, but now show in the Grayson County Jail Records to be set at $35,000 on each count. He made bail about a month after the crash.

The Grand Jury indicted Patterson on six counts — three of Manslaughter, and three of Criminally Negligent Homicide.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers investigated the deadly crash and made the arrest.
