Recent Indictments & Arrests- Van Alstyne

INDICTMENTS

The Grayson County Grand Jury, during its past two sessions, indicted several Van Alstyne with several felony charges.

Indecency With A Child, Sexual Contact  — Van Alstyne police say an investigation is underway after receiving a report of inappropriate contact with a child. Investigators found enough evidence to believe a crime had been committed, leading to an arrest warrant for the suspect, a resident of Van Alstyne.

Police said the suspect turned himself in to the Grayson County Jail on last week on a charge of Indecency With A Child, Sexual Contact. He was released later that day after posting a $100,000 bond, according to court records.

Kidnapping, Assault – A Van Alstyne man remains in Grayson County Jail following his recent indictment and arrest on several felony charges. Those include two counts of Kidnapping, Assault W/Deadly Weapon, Continuous Violent Against Family, Assault on Family by Impeding Breath, and one Collin County warrant charging him with Theft between $2,500-$30,000. Bail was set at a total of $701,250. The Grand Jury did indict him on all seven of the new charges.

Disble w/Intent of Bodily Injury — It was another Van Alstyne man who the Grand  Jury indicted on 2 counts of Injury Child/Elderly, one of which charge also added “Disabled” and “w/Intent.” This suspect spent nine days in jail before posting bail of $20,000 and being released.

Failure To Comply – A Van Alstyne man, in his 50s, went to Grayson County Jail on a Grayson County warrant charging him with Failure to comply sex off duty to register life/annually, to which a jail magistrate posted bail of $30,000 w/conditions on any release he is given after posting bail. This suspect was booked into jail on October 30 and remains incarcerated as of January 17 in lieu of bail.

Arrests

January 4 —  About 3:40 a.m., Van Alstyne PD officers made a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 75 after seeing the vehicle moving at 95 miles per hour in a 65 m-h zone. The d river, an Anna woman showed signs of intoxication. The police put her through a series of Standard Field Sobriety Tests, after which they placed her under arrest on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated. She posted bail in the amount of $3,000 for her Jan. 5 release.

January 5 – At nearly 3 a.m. officers on patrol stopped a vehicle, driven by a male Dallas resident, on U.S. 75. The report said they closed it t 83 mph in a 65-mph zone. The driver, the report said, smelled of an intoxicating beverage. They put him through the SFSTs and, when complete, placed him under arrest on a charge of DWI 3rd or more. The magistrate set bail at $20,000 and he paid in later the same day.

January 6 – AT 8:44 a.m., officers were dispatched to an alarm call in the 600 block of Trinity Street. There, they made contact with a Sherman man, and the investigation determined that no criminal offense had occurred. However, they found an outstanding warrant for his arrest which charged him with Failure To Appear on a previous DWI 2nd offense charge. They Jailed the suspect on the warrant. He posted bail of $2,500 on a Personal Recognizance Bond, jail records show.

January 10 – Police stopped another vehicle on U.S. 75 around the Farmington area on a reckless-driver call. They located the described vehicle and stopped it because the driver didn’t maintain the vehicle in a single lane. The driver was a Tulsa, Okla. man and showed signs of intoxication and was holding a can of intoxicating liquid.

They got him out and saw he was unsteady on his feet and that he was too intoxicated to perform the SFSTs. They placed him under arrest on a charge of DWI w/Open Container.

He paid his bail of $1,500 the next day with a surety bond and was released.
