Miles and his dad, Bob Penhall, kept it soft, low, and acoustic as they opened Wednesday night for Darryl Lee Rush at the Last Chance Saloon in Plano. The duo only had an hour, and filled those 60 minutes withoriginals and covers from greats such as Gram Parsons and Ray Charles.

Both Penhalls play regularly with the Kevin Deal Band, and will join Kevin in an acoustic trio at Last Chance in late August. Miles is also lead guitarist and backup vocalist for the Grant Jones & The Pistol Grip Lassos, who won the Shiner Rising Star 2009 competition.

Miles will be playing Saturday with Grant Jones at LaGrange in Dallas, Thursday, Aug. 5, with Kevin Deal at Main Street Liquid Co. in Richardson, and at noon Saturday, Aug. 7, with his own backup at Fred’s Texas Café in Fort Worth.
