Big Gus kicked off the first Lone Star Underground by bringing Jason Elmore & Hoodoo Witch to the spotlight at Love & War in Texas Sunday (Nov. 6, 2011), after Aaron Burton stomped out some beats in his stylish dockers, and on at least two acoustic guitars.

Jason was a perfect pic to open this new concert series, with his fresh and diversified style of guitar picking and his friendly, crowd-friendly style of being a great human being. He played a 90-minute set without break, with Chris Waw on the bass and his guest drummer, borrowed from the blues picker who Jason calls “mentor,” Jim Suhler. Jason said that Hoodoo Witch is “between drummers” right now, and that since he and Jim play together so often, Jimmy Morgan of Monkey Beat fame, could jump right in without missing a beat… so to speak. He did. Morgan’s style was a true asset to Hoodoo Witch.

Jeremy Lynn Woodall is being featured this Sunday. Woodall, who hails from the Waco area, has been the lead guitarist for Billy Joe Shaver and also stays busy oln his own. Woodall is best known for his unique approach to Outlaw Country music and his energetic live shows. Jeremy has a southern rock voice and guitar style that is very natural. He began tinkering with music as a child and wrote his first song at the age of 4. Jeremy takes pride in being a songwriter first. “Everything else….” he says, “is just baggage. It’s just stuff ya gotta do make the song happen. I love to play guitar but what I love most about …”  — All this from his ReverbNation page.

Here’s a YouTube video of Jeremy singing “The Hill” — just to wet your appetite

The shows start at 4 p.m., at Love & War in Plano. Big Gus Samuelson is hosting this concert series, which will continue there every Sunday until the end of 2011. Lone Star Underground is featuring musicians from all sorts of genres. Variety each week, but always top notch performers.
