Cody Shaw & The Rhythm Boys on home turf
Cody Shaw & The Rhythm Boys will be at Smitty’s Bar & Grill in Denison Friday night, Dec. 27. For more photos, click on the link below.Cody Shaw and those Rhythm Boys who play with him played to a packed house Christmas night in their hometown of Wichita Falls.
Cody on vocals, Ben Shaw on led guitar, Nick Ghanbari on keyboards (primarily), Chris Booth on bass, and Randy Burch on drums, followed another Wichita Falls native, Elaina Kay Crmpler, who now lives and works in Fort Worth. She, likewise, had a great band behind her, which included Booth on bass and in Santa cap. She also had a versatile lead guitar picker who played several varieties of guitar and great drummer. Elaina Kay covered some of the Miranda Lambert tunes, but mostly sang her own originals.
After a break that included a wedding proposal on the Iron Horse Pub stage (“She said yes.”), the Rhythm Boys hit it, in typical hard-
hitting Rhythm Boys style. A couple of new songs were interspersed among their regular crowd-favorites.
A good word about the venue’s sound… how’s ‘incredible’ for a good word? That’s how it came down, especially during the Rhythm Boys’ set and especially as they moved from one song into the next, with Nick, Randy, and Ben morphing notes.
On the negative side, once the waitress brought a drink to the table, she never showed up again. Guess the heavier drinkers were keeping her busier during those next three hours. Oh, well. The Iron Horse Pub is a great music venue, not a television there, and the crowd was there to hear the music.
