Police Jail Assault Suspect

Van Alstyne Police arrested a local woman early Sunday morning on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police Lt. Steven Hayslip reported that it was about 2:45 a.m. when they were called to a residence on Dartmouth Drive inside the city, in regard to a disturbance in progress.
There, they found that a man had been stabbed in the shoulder. They were informed that his wife had been the one wielding the knife. Hayslip said that the husband had been at home and his wife had recently arrived when the attack happened.
Van Alstyne EMS took the victim to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
The suspect remains in Grayson County Jail Tuesday morning in lieu of $26,000 bail, payable in surety bonds which do have special conditions set. The charge is a 2nd degree felony.
Hayslip said the case is still under investigation.
