Two bands we might never have seen up here in the Metroplex performed great sets at Southern Junction Steakhouse & Dancehall in Rockwall Thursday night (June 26/2104).
Charlie Montague’s Band was high energy, country mixed with rock. Horns, drums, bass, and lead guitar brought it all to the stage.
Johnny Chops, who regularly plays with Randy Rogers Band, made it a little less rock but lots of Texas country with his four other musicians, The Razors — keyboard, bass, guitar, and drums.
And I have to add this — a nicer group of musicians you won’t find anywhere. Maybe as nice — yes. But nicer — never.
In this Sounds of Summer series, coordinated by Big Gus Samuelson for Southern Junction, there is normally only one band brought to play following the venue’s various house bands. These two bands traveled together from the Texas Hill Country, thus the double treat.
