Tony Ramey got out twice this weekend, and both gigs were mind-blowers and collectors of new fans from across North Texas and Oklahoma.

Thursday night (2/27/14), Tony was featured on the popular 95.5 Radio Show, Texas Talk Live, with Shane Oats having the interview honors. This is a monthly feature at The River Bar in Choctaw Casino, Grant, Okla. K95.5’s Will Payne took Tony up to his Hugo studio for a quick tour before the broadcast, and then it was down to business from 7-8. Well, business with Tony Ramey is fun, because it’s always great music! Dinner at the River Bar & Grill.  In blog style, let me avow — I’ll never make Oklahoma jokes again, after the incredible way everyone received and treated Tony.

Saturday night, (3/1/14)  Tony and Joe Ely shared billing at the historic Poor David’s Pub in Dallas. It was the first time either musician had heard the other, and quite a night with them blowing the roof off the building and their fans. Tony ended his set with “Bullets First,” and afterward, the room full of new fans visited with him while the incredible PDP sound man Carlos set the stage up for Joe and his sidekick, Joel Guzman.

Now, in the middle of those two nights, Tony wasn’t still. He and his beautiful wife Debbie grabbed a few minutes with Willie Nelson backstage at the Durant/Choctaw Event Center. As you may recall, Willie Nelson cut a duo with Tony on his “The Bottle, The Bible, and The Gun,” which has not yet been released. The conversation went something like this, Tony said:  Willie — Did you really write that song? Tony — Yes, I did. Willie — Well, it’s a great song! A great endorsement from the grandfather in Texas and country music.
