It was a private party Monday night at Love & War in Texas, the Plano restaurant, but from the crowd there, it seems that all of North Texas might have been invited. People kept coming, and coming, and coming, and either Tory or Tye Phelps, the partners in this creative venue, met them at the door. Outside was the first night of a new  service that L&W is providing for its customers — limousine service. According to Bryan Limousines’ Billy Jared, they will be available beginning at 7 p.m. every Thursday-Sunday. Call them at 214-213-5466 for complete details. Love & War serves  up good Texas cuisine — even a burger can be considered cuisine at L&W! Being from the Texas Hill Country themselves, they appreciate the finer, unique, exotic meats available there, and stretch that appreciation across the Lone Star State, putting the best food the state has to offer on patrons’ plates. That might be one of the reasons this family has stayed in business for 15 years. Another could be the blend of Texas music they present nearly every afternoon or night of the week. And to that end, their Shiner Sunday showcases begin again in  mid-March. Keep an eye on their (click here) Website, or on the Live Music Calendar here. Many of the musicians who have played at L&W sat on the stage again Monday night, just in celebration. However, Entrance

Mark David Manders, who hosts a Monday night pickin’ session each week, changed mode and went into ‘stand-up comedy’ and was egged on by singer/songwriter Max Stalling, in a toast, or more like a roast, to the Phelps brothers. Then, Austin Cunningham, followed by Robby White and Ronny Spears belting out their country songs, and the Mexico musical entourage came up next. That was Stalling, Manders, Dave Perez, Matt Hillyer and Jordan Hendrix, and Zane Williams, all of whom will be going to Puerto Vallerta during June with the KHYI and LUW crews. Monte Montgomery, the guitarist from the Hill Country who, it’s been said, makes all other guitarists want to pawn their axes, closed it out. Out in the crowd, there were countless others who have graced the L&W patio stage: Kevin Deal, Deryl Dodd, Bryan Adam Joyner, Jeff Hopson, Phillip Wildman, Roger Russell, Guthrie Kennard, David Byboth, Marina Rocks, Kyle Wade Smith, Aubrey Lynn England, Eric Beatty, Ed Burleson, Dave Thomas — well, I’ll forget many, sorry guys nothing personal believe me! Great music, great night, great food, thanks Ty and Tory Phelps. Can’t wait for next year’s celebration and everything that will happen there in between now and then.
