Randy Travis as Mr. Greenhall in upcoming Lifetime move, “Christmas On The Bayou”

Award-winning country music star Randy Travis, a Texan now by choice after making his home in Grayson County, is appearing in a new Christmas movie, scheduled to air on Lifetime television, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4.

Travis joins One Tree Hill alums Hilarie Burton and Tyler Hilton in “Christmas On The Bayou,” a charming love story in which Travis portrays local store owner Mr. Greenhall. The storyline goes something like this:

When successful New York marketing executive Katherine (Burton) discovers her workaholic ways are taking a toll on her 8-year-old son, Zac, she decides to spend Christmas with him and her mother, Lilly (Markie Post) in her hometown on the bayou. When Caleb (Hilton) tries to rekindle a childhood romance and convince her to move back home, Katherine is torn between the bright lights of the big city and the quiet, gentler rhythms of her Southern roots. Only a Christmas miracle orchestrated by Papa Noel (Ed Asner) can steer her heart to her true home.

The movie airs Saturday night, and is also being shown Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week (Dec. 15, 18, 19) Check your local station guides for times.

About Randy Travis:

Randy Travis now lives on about 350 acres of beautiful ranchland in the southwest corner of Grayson County Texas. During the past year, more or less, his health declined, with heart problems and brain surgery (allegedly) that has left him partially paralyzed. Friends say he is working hard on regaining complete health.

Randy Travis was reportedly recovering after his near death health scare over the summer. However, it has since been reported that the singer is now paralyzed and may never perform again.

Earlier this fall. The National Enquirer cited two insiders who gave a health update on Travis’ reportedly dire condition. The first source told the publication:

“Randy is still paralyzed on his right side. He can’t walk, and he can barely speak. … Randy’s chances of a full recovery don’t look good.”

The other source echoed the update, stating:

“Randy is still confined to bed or a wheelchair. He has to wear a helmet to protect his skull until it heals. A nurse visits every day, and he has two long-term caretakers.”

Some of Travis’ closest friends in the music industry are lending their support for the sickly singer. Billy Ray Cyrus lead the charge when he asked friends to pray for Travis. Garth Brooks took a moment during his one man live CBS show to cover Travis’ “Diggin up Bones.” John Vaught led a human chain for the superstar at a November George Jones Tribute show in Nashville:

“… George Jones had a good friend who was really all of our good friend, and that is Randy Travis. And Randy is going through a great challenge as we speak, and he’s making great strides. And as we know the most important thing, the most important thing to a person’s recovery is their will to recover, and I feel that with all our love and prayers Randy will receive that energy and perhaps, perhaps a miracle may be shown. … Let’s make a human chain of love for Randy. Hold the hand of the person next to you, and…we’ll shout Randy’s name…”
