Arrests
November 2 — At about 10 p.m., dispatch sent officers to a reckless driver on Northbound U.S Highway 75 at Exit 51.The officers located the described vehicle and had it stop for them. They learned that the driver was a Van Alstyne man, and that he smelled as if he had been drinking. They put the suspect through the Standard Field Sobriety Tests, which the suspect did not pass, so they placed him under arrest on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated.
While following the standard procedure of taking inventory of an arrested person’s vehicle, the officers found a pistol inside it and added the second charge of with Unlawful Carrying a Weapon. During the investigation, they also determined that the passenger, also a Van Alstyne resident, was intoxicated in a public place and therefore was a danger to himself or others. He, also, went to jail on a Charge of Public Intoxication.
Grayson County Jail records show that the driver paid his bail of $4,000 with surety bonds for his release and that the passenger was released on his own recognizance the following day.
November 3 — It was about 10:09 p.m. when police made contact with a driver who had left the road on Henry Hynds (Hwy 75 service road), just south of Blythe, and stuck his vehicle in a ditch. Police had quickly noticed the odor of an intoxicating beverage emitting from the driver, and so conducted SFSTs on him. When they were completed, they placed the driver, an Anna man, under arrest on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated.
The suspect’s bail was set at $2,000, and he paid that on Nov. 4 with a surety bond and was released.
November 5 — About 1:36 p.m., officers made a traffic stop on South Waco and Van Alstyne Parkway after seeing that the registration on it had expired in September. It was the passenger in this vehicle had the odor of marijuana coming from him. The officers made a probable-cause search and found a small clear baggie of a white powdery substance. They field- tested the substance that was in the baggie and it confirmed to be cocaine. The officers also located a usable amount of marijuana inside the car. They jailed the passenger, a Sherman man, on charges of
Possession of Controlled Substance <1G and Possession of Marijuana <2 OZ.
A magistrate at Grayson County Jail set this suspect’s total bail at $6,500 and he paid that with a personal recognizance bond the next day.
November 6 — It was about 10:30 p.m. that Thursday when officers made a traffic stop on U.S. 75 just north of FM 121 after seeing that there was no liability insurance on the vehicle being driven on a public road. They confirmed that violation after the stop and so conducted a probable-cause search. It uncovered first some drug paraphernalia and then a clear baggie containing what they believed was cocaine. A subsequent field test confirmed the substance was cocaine. He was placed under arrest on a charge of Possession of Controlled Substance => 4G <200G.
Bail was set at the jail of $15,000 and as of Sunday, the suspect, an Anna man, remained incarcerated.
Jail records also show that it was this suspect’s 17th arrest on 32 various charges.
November 7 — A Van Alstyne man went to jail on a charge of Public Intoxication. This arrest came after officers were sent to the front of the Palladium Apartments about 10:45 pm, regarding a possible intoxicated person. Dispatch had received multiple calls on this possibility from concerned people regarding the person. Officers located the male subject, a Van Alstyne resident. While speaking with him, the officers could smell the odor of an intoxicating beverage. They determined that he was a danger to himself and/or others since he was in a public place. They jailed him on a charge of Public Intoxication and Warrant Service.
Jail records show his bail set at $292 personal recognizance, but does not show the warrant service. The suspect obtained his release on Saturday, Nov. 8.
