Just another observation, too. This contest allows the bands to play one song as a sound check, and the White Elephant Saloon sound man is very accommodating and very good.

And a third observation:  Also, the past two years, the winner of this contest has been granted automatic entry into Shiner Rising Star, and both years the same band has won that contest, too. Green Light Pistol and The Buffalo Ruckus. Now, that’s certainly no guarantee for the 2015 SRS, just a fun observation from a former police-beat reporter trained to notice the smaller details.
