Dynamite came to Love & War in Texas Sunday night (Jan. 26) in the form of 8 great singer/songwriters, all different in styles and all similar in level of talent. And it followed on the heels of a previous 8 others who vied the Sunday before, (Jan. 19). North Texas and Oklahoma are blessed to have such an array of talent, and I really think these final 16 are all/only from North Texas.

Those competing this week were (not necessarily in this order): Justin Alan Pickard, Kyle Brooks, Ty Young, Danny Zagotta, Shannon Choate, Tin Man Travis, Cole Risner, and Scott Sean White.

the week before, it was Cye Carter, Byron Dowd, Tracie Merchant, David Byboth, Jason Lovell, Town Walsh, Chad Purdom, and Rory Payne.

Can’t say much about the different performers here, since I sat at the judges’ table, but will say that I’m glad there are many more judges than me to make these selections as to who moves into the fourth round. Of the 16 who made it into Round 3, six will be eliminated.

Keep in mind, now, that next week the contest will take a break, because it’s Super Bowl Sunday!. It all will resume, then, at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, with two weeks in Round 4, and then the finals, in time for the winner to become a part of Texas Music Revolution on March 8, one of the many prizes these people are vying for.
