Merrol Ray brought it all to the One Eyed Jack Saturday night (Oct. 23). Original Regulators Jeremy Lee and Jason Pruett alongside Whitewright’s own Ryan Littrell on electric guitar. Together with them, Merrol brought original, covers, country, red dirt, rock, and rap. Yes. Rap, complete with sideways cap and crotch hold.

The Regulators’ magic was in the air, although Jeremy and Merrol said they both were having to “think” about the music. It had been months, since May, when that trio had played together. Ryan has played with Merrol several times since then. He seems to smile more on every stage he shares with Merrol, especially, Saturday night, when Merrol shared a little style with him. Coach Joe Avazanno has said it more than 12 times, Merrol Ray is the best guitarist ever! Ryan is up there among the top, even though he won’t admit it even to himself.

Jason on the drums is steady, unpretentious, and the rock of the band. Jeremy on bass adds attitude and unique style with rhythms that turn lead at times.

The One Eyed Jack, on U.S. 69 in Whitewright, offers up live bands on Saturday nights and acoustic songwriting shows on Thursdays, Merrol and Ryan being among those who step on that Thursday night stage.

Keep an eye on the Live Music Calendar posted on SceneInTown.com regularly, to catch the next gigs for these incredible musicians.
