Sponsored by Love & War in Texas, this 7th yearly Rusty Wier singer/songwriter competition has now finished up its Round 1, with Week 3 having been completed Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017.

Competing in this Week 3 were:  Bryan Adam Joyner, Whitney O’Neil, J.D. Cobb, Kevin Edwards, Nick Flint, Mandalyn Mack, Larry Martin, Darren Rozell, Hannah & Hailey, Jess Skelton, John Wesley Shelton, Robin Willis.

These singer/songwriters competed in groups of three, song-swap style, with each presenting three original songs. They are not just competing against one another, but are competing against all 30+ songwriters involved in Round 1.

KHYI’s radio personality Brett Dillon coordinates this contest, and Roger Russell runs sound.

Dillon will notify performers and the public soon when Round 2 begins and who will be moving on into this prestigious contest’s second round. For sure, it will continue to be at Love & War’s Plano restaurant, at the NE corner of U.S. 75 and Plano Parkway. There’s no cover charge for any of the contest segments.

And, BTW, In Round 2, there’ll be featuring two photos of all performers show each week.

Pat, that would be incredible to have you in it. The best way to keep up is to follow Brett Dillon KHYI on Facebook. He coordinates it, does all the hard work! It all usually starts in November, usually on Tuesday nights, and then moves to Sundays as it progresses. Always L&W, they host it.
