Rusty Wier challenge, Round 1 Week 1

Sponsored by Love & War in Texas, the yearly Rusty Wier singer/songwriter competition is now in full swing with Round 1 having begun Sunday, January 15.
Competing in this Week 1 were: Harley Dale Brown, Zack Jones, Wesley Joe Malone, Matt Nix, Marina Rocks, Tyler John, Tanner Sparks, Stacey Shope, Town Walsh, and Ray White.
These singer/songwriters competed in groups of two, song-swap style, with each presenting three original songs. They are not just competing against one another, but are competing against all 30+ songwriters involved in Round 1.
KHYI’s radio personality Brett Dillon coordinates this contest, and Roger Russell runs sound.
This next week’s contest will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, at Love & War’s Plano restaurant, at the NE corner of U.S. 75 and Plano Parkway. There’s no cover charge for any of the contest segments.
