The Buffalo Ruckus announces the release of its new single, “Hills And Valleys,” on Shiner Records, to Texas/Red Dirt/Americana radio and iTunes. “Hills And Valleys” is the lead track from the Denton, Texas-based group’s forthcoming sophomore album, Peace & Cornbread, set to drop on September 16.

The Buffalo Ruckus features the sizable talents of Jason Lovell on vocals, guitar and harmonica; Brad Haefner on guitar and mandolin; Michael Burgess on bass; Sevans Henderson on keyboards and Jerrod Ford on percussion.
Produced by Jonathan Tyler, “Hills And Valleys” opens with strains of lonesome organ, sparse brushes on drums, piano and harmonica which draws the listener into the intimate love affair of two people on life’s journey – undertaken with strength and determination. The jangly mandolin-infused mid-tempo ebbs and flows, anchored by a unique bass guitar part and piano flourishes accentuated by electric guitar, while Lovell wraps his vocal magic around the soulful and haunting melody.
Inspired by a wide range of artists from Led Zeppelin to Waylon Jennings, The Buffalo Ruckus‘ front man Lovell’s voice has been described as “a cross between Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty” by Dallas deejay Brett Dillon of KHYI 95.3.
Boot-stomping rhythms, howling vocals, and spear-in-the-back guitar leads their overall objective: “Spread the Ruckus!” Their self-titled debut album was released in August of 2014 and was produced by the band and Grammy ® nominee Chris Bell (who has worked with the Eagles, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Erykah Badu, and U2). It took listeners on a raw genre-defying journey through Americana, folk, blues, country, and roots rock-n-roll and spawned two radio singles, “High Again” and “Angilee.” The band currently maintains a very busy performing and writing schedule.
The Buffalo Ruckus‘ music has been described as a compendium of roots, Americana, southern soul, psychedelic post-modern avant-garde and experimental country-fried rock. The songwriting is pure and soulful with stories of heritage, spirituality, redemption, love gained and love lost. The Ruckus took its first musical breath in the middle of 2013. They quickly gained public attention after winning both the 2014 Texas Music Showdown and 2014 Shiner Rising Star competitions. The band has quickly spread its musical wings and taken its heavy soul-fueled sound through Texas, Georgia, New York and the Midwest.
