George Jones asks “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?” — Jamie Richards is one who is already filling them, as are Dale Watson, Cody Johnson, and so many other Texas artists But then, that’s my editorial for the day. Thanks for listening. — Mary Jane Farmer

SoJo, the greatest steakhouse combined with dancehall in the world (to put it modestly), hosted Jamie Richards and band Saturday night, Aug. 8, and this smooth country balladeer kept the audience up on their feet through the set. And, he brought Matthew Middleton back onto the stage — Middleton fronts the house band Texas Drive — to see a couple of songs with him, and also had Frank (Clancy) Prigmore and his harmonica up for a special song.

Jamie has a rich, slightly grainy, and clear voice perfectly suited for his choice of genres, country music Or did country music choose him?… hhhmmm, good question. He has surrounded himself with five great musicians on lead guitar, bass, and drums, steel guitar and fiddle. And they work as a respectful, admiring team. Not a prima donna in the group.

Next up as a special guest at Southern Junction between Rockwall and Royse City will be Cory Morrow on Saturday, Aug. 22. Plus house bands every Wednesday-Saturday nights. You can check their full line-up on the Website, SouthernJunctionLive.com.
