Scene Nightly — last week in Aug. 2013

Man, am I behind… But then, you’ve heard that before!

Here’s a compilation of the past few shows I’ve been to.  Lots of places to ‘click here’ included, some not even marked except with being bolded.

Click here for Big Gus & Swampadelic — At Union Station in Denison. This is a great venue that’s only been open a few months. Features acoustic music on Wednesdays and bands on Fridays.

Click here for Tim Hoover — At Loose Wheels Texas, where Big Gus, Tracy, and I went for dinner before his Union Station gig. Tim is studying guitar and music business in Liverpool, and this was his last night home for the summer. Gone back now. He’s getting great, huge, humongous, gigantic bang for his bucks in college. The Denison kid has become a young man, both in demeanor and in talent and stage presence. Can hardly wait til he gets back home for real!

Click here for Matthew R. Bell — At The Cowboy Club in Van Alstyne. Stumbled in to this Pilot Point man, sent in the stead of another musician who couldn’t make it that night after all. He was easy-going, entertaining, talented. Played kick drum, guitar, horn, harmonica, and other instruments. A one-man band sort of show.

Click here for Cody Shaw & The Rhythm Boys — At Hank’s Texas Grill in McKinney, a combo of (one of ) my favorite band and favorite venue, Cody and the guys shared stages that night Robby White and Ronny Spears… pix here in the next link.

Click here for White & Spears — At Hank’s Texas Grill in McKinney, the same Saturday night. That joint was rockin’ with all the talent in there. One small boy couldn’t stay off the dance floor when Robby and Ronny played.

Click here for The Bodarks — at The Gingerman in Plano, a Sunday afternoon outdoors, 98 degrees, but cool on the patio because of all the HUGE palm trees and a great breeze that kept blowing through it.
